where grace has the final word
THE JOURNAL
A quarterly publication of essays, poetry, and visual art rooted in grace.
About the Journal
The Journal is a quarterly publication that gathers a wide range of voices—seasoned authors and first-time contributors alike—centered on one shared reality: the relentless grace of God.
Each issue brings together essays, poetry, photography, and visual art shaped by lived experience. Some pieces are quiet. Some are bold. Each one is chosen with intention, creating space for voices to be expressed and received without being reduced or reshaped.
You won’t find traditional ads in these pages. Instead, you’ll come across a selection of trusted, grace-based resources—ministries, books, workshops, and retreats that align with the heart behind this work. Everything here reflects the same foundation: Christ’s finished work and our inclusion in His life.
The Journal unfolds like a tapestry—different threads, different expressions—but grace has the final word.

"What I love most about The Journal is seeing people share what’s been formed in them—whether it’s their first time publishing or something they’ve carried for years. No single voice can capture the fullness of God’s goodness. But together, something fuller begins to emerge."
— Robin Smit, Founder & Publisher

An Invitation to Contribute
The Journal welcomes essays, poetry, and visual art shaped by lived experience and grounded in grace.
We’re drawn to work that feels lived-in—pieces that carry insight, beauty, or clarity without needing to press a conclusion. Teaching has a place here, but we trust the reader. The work doesn’t need to explain everything or resolve every tension.
Some submissions are quiet. Others are bold. What matters is that they carry something real, expressed in a way that feels true to the person behind it.
We welcome:
Essays & Stories — writing that shares what’s been lived, learned, and seen
Poetry — language that pays attention to the sacred, the ordinary, and the real
Visual Art — images that open space rather than close it
Announcements & Resources — events, workshops, ministries, or resources aligned with the heart of the Journal
Each piece is uniquely its own, yet reflects the same scandalous grace and goodness of God.
Submissions may be sent to sherri.twspublishing@gmail.com
Please include a brief bio and any relevant links. Due to the volume of submissions, we’re not able to respond to every piece, but we’ll reach out if your submission is a good fit for The Journal.
Editorial Review:
Contributors may be asked to review edited material for factual accuracy when needed, but review is not guaranteed for every submission. Final editorial, layout, image, title, pull quote, bio, and design decisions remain with The Journal.
